BIOGRAPHY
Alexander grew up partly in his grandfather's animation studio. At the age of 10 he started taking photographs. By 16 he knew that he wanted to be a cinematographer. After high school graduation, community service in a retirement home, work and travel in Asia, Alexander moved from Bonn to Munich in 1989 and worked in a film lab, worked as a lighting technician and as an camera assistant, before making his debut as Director of Photography for a feature film in 1999 with the drama "Planet Alex". Since then, he has been responsible for around 80 feature films, TV movies and series.
He loves dawn and dusk, back low sun light, deep and pale colors, frightening darkness, dust in the air, night shooting in summer, cold breath in winter, glittering lakes, fireflies and full moon , neon and stroboscop, thick hazy club air, steaming forests in the morning, thunder storms in the mountains, heat flares on highways, smiling faces, shivers of the skin, moist eyes, diversity of life and the beauty of all human beings.
He sees himself as a picture storyteller, accomplice of the director and ally of the actors. He is curious about life and new projects.
